Getting Started

Step 1: Install the Extension

  1. Visit the Marketplace Monitor page
  2. Click "Install Free Extension"
  3. Click "Add to Chrome" in the Chrome Web Store
  4. The extension icon will appear in your browser toolbar

Step 2: Create an Account

  1. Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar
  2. Click "Register" to create a new account
  3. Enter your email and password
  4. Click "Register" to complete setup

Step 3: Add Your First Keyword

  1. Open the extension dashboard
  2. Click "Keywords" in the sidebar
  3. Click "+ Add Keyword"
  4. Enter what you're looking for (e.g., "iPhone 14", "bike", "couch")
  5. Select platforms (Facebook, Kijiji, Craigslist)
  6. Select cities to search in
  7. Click "Save"

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Marketplace Monitor free to use?

Yes! The basic version is completely free and includes monitoring up to 3 keywords with 500 listings per month. Premium tiers may be introduced in the future.

How often does it check for new listings?

The extension scans marketplaces every 20-40 seconds per keyword to ensure you don't miss any deals. Scan frequency may be adjusted to respect platform rate limits.

Do I need to keep my browser open?

Yes, the browser needs to be open (but not necessarily visible) for the extension to scan marketplaces. Chrome extensions run in the background as long as the browser is running.

How do I set up Telegram notifications?

Go to Settings in the dashboard, find the Telegram section, and follow the instructions to connect your Telegram account. You'll need to message the bot to get your chat ID.

Can I monitor listings in multiple cities?

Yes! When adding a keyword, you can select multiple cities. Each keyword can monitor different platforms and cities simultaneously.

Why am I not getting notifications?

Check that: (1) You're logged in, (2) Browser notifications are enabled for the extension, (3) Your keywords are saved and active, (4) The extension is running (check chrome://extensions/).

How do I delete a keyword?

Go to the Keywords tab in the dashboard, click the three dots (⋯) next to the keyword you want to remove, and select "Delete".

Does this work on mobile?

Chrome extensions are desktop-only. However, you can receive Telegram notifications on your mobile phone when new listings appear (if Telegram is configured).

Is my data private and secure?

Yes! We use encryption for all data transmission, store passwords securely, and never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I export my listing history?

Currently, listing history is viewable in the dashboard. Data export features may be added in future updates.

Troubleshooting

Extension not working?

  • Go to chrome://extensions/
  • Find Marketplace Monitor and click the Reload button
  • Make sure it's enabled (toggle should be blue)
  • Check for error messages in the extension console

Not seeing new listings?

  • Verify your keywords are saved correctly
  • Check that platforms and cities are selected
  • Make sure monitoring is enabled (not paused)
  • Try a more specific or broader search term

Login issues?

  • Check your email and password are correct
  • Try resetting your password if you forgot it
  • Clear browser cache and cookies
  • Disable other extensions that might interfere
