Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 23, 2026

Universal Dark Mode Toggle is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our Chrome Extension.

1. Data Collection

We firmly believe that your browsing data is your own business. Universal Dark Mode Toggle does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information, browsing history, or user data of any kind.

2. Local Storage

The extension uses your browser's local storage exclusively to save your dark mode preferences (e.g., whether dark mode is toggled "on" or "off" for a specific website domain).

  • This data remains strictly on your local device.
  • It is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party services.
  • You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's extension data or local storage.

3. Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions for functional purposes only:

  • activeTab: To instantaneously inject the dark mode styles into the specific website you are currently viewing when you click the extension icon.
  • storage: To remember your dark mode preference on a per-domain basis so it persists across page refreshes.
  • Host Permissions (<all_urls>): To allow the extension to inject the necessary CSS to invert colors on any website you choose to enable it on.

4. Third-Party Services

We do not use tracking pixels, analytics, or advertising services within the extension.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time if the functionality of the extension changes. Any changes will be reflected on this page, and the "Effective Date" at the top will be updated.

6. Contact Us
